The Meadowbrook I Coffee Table

Natural character, given a modern form

Meadowbrook I was designed around a remarkable book-matched black walnut top. The mirrored grain creates a sense of movement across the surface, while simple matte black steel legs allow the wood to remain the focus.

The walnut came from a fallen tree near the clubhouse at Rochester Golf and Country Club on the Meadow Brook estate. That history gives the material added meaning, but it is the grain, proportion and quiet modern form that make the table work in a home.

The piece shown measures 48 by 25 inches. A related commission can be developed in walnut or another hardwood and proportioned for your seating arrangement and room.

Made to remain stable and useful

The steel legs are recessed and secured with threaded inserts. Concealed reinforcement and construction details account for the seasonal movement of solid wood and the demands of daily use.

Investment guide: Related coffee table commissions begin around $1,950.
